Once
a week, on Saturday mornings, the Kiwanis Club’s Horses For Handicapped
program gives kids in Pinellas County with a variety of physical
ailments an opportunity to safely ride horses around a rink.
It’s a chance most of the children would never have
without the program that was started 29 years ago at the Seminole
Vocational Education Center.
The program, which is a Kiwanis District 13 activity, is funded by eight Kiwanis Clubs in lower Pinellas, south of Largo.
They include the Seminole club, Seminole Breakfast,
Mid-town St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg, Sunshine City, Pinellas Park,
Gulf Beaches and Suncoast In Action.
